expert with 20 years of experience. David Bibeau became the first certified lubricant specialist for CHS, part of its ever-growing local cooperative certified energy specialist (CES) program. •• LEARN MORE •• Go to www.chsinc.com/c for more photos. Visit www.cenex.com to learn about Cenex ® lubricants or visit www.agland.com. Lubes for the Long Run Early last year, Nelson and Bibeau devised a test of Maxtron synthetic blend DEO, comparing it with competing brands of regular 15W-40 oil and synthetic 5W-40 oil. Starting with another lab, Nelson now uses the LubeScan ® oil analysis program and has online access to a variety of data available on each truck. “The results have been positive,” says Bibeau. Nelson wanted to extend oil-drain intervals from 15,000 to 25,000 miles, so he’s happy that lab results show Maxtron synthetic blend DEO holds viscosity better than the diesel engine oil he had been using, even with extended drain intervals. And engine wear rates have dropped. “I’m comfortable with the Cenex oil, even if Kurt Nelson supervises DFA’s Denver-area maintenance shop, where Agland, Inc., supplies 80 semis with premium Cenex ® brand refined fuels and lubricants. we have to run up to 30,000 miles between oil changes,” says Nelson. The DFA shop supervisor has cut his lubricant costs in half by using Maxtron 5W-40 synthetic blend DEO, while improving fuel economy. “At half the cost, the Cenex lubricant is great, even if everything else stays equal,” Nelson says. Bibeau also supplies DFA with drums of Cenex grease and synthetic blended lubricants and dif-ferentials. All these products are provided by the Cenex Lube Terminal Agland operates for area cooperatives. The system has enough volume and strength to assist cooperatives two states away. To service 12 milk transports DFA’s Mountain Council operates in southern Idaho, Agland and Bibeau worked with Doug Allison, a certified energy specialist for Pro-ducers Supply Co-op at Nampa, Idaho, to supply Cenex lubricants to that terminal. Cooperation among cooperatives comes through again for the customer. 24 May/June 2008 WWW.CHSINC.COM
