Performance Fuel “They say they have better pulling power on hills,” says Vaisvilas. “One driver said to me, ‘You’d have to dump nitroglycerin in this tank to make it run any better than it does with Roadmaster XL.’” Within a few days, his drivers dubbed Roadmaster XL “racing fuel.” Mike Gullikson, certified energy specialist with Advanced Energy Fuels, LLC, Oakland, Neb., says the fuel test confirmed what he’s seen with other fleet customers. “The engines cleared up quickly. Within 24 hours, they noticed better power, quieter operation and less smoking. Engines run at peak performance with Cenex premium diesel fuels. Our detergents, stabilizers and other additives work, no doubt about it. ” CHS led the industry in early 2010 when it added a new injection stabilizer to its on-and off-road premium diesel fuels, Cenex Roadmaster XL and Cenex Ruby Fieldmaster ® . The stabilizer combats the sometimes-severe oxidation problems experienced in the latest-generation diesel engines, where higher pressures and temperatures can cause black deposits that plug filters and foul fuel injectors. Since the additive was included in all Cenex premium fuels, “not one of our customers has reported a problem with filter plugging,” reports Gullikson. “Since switching to Cenex premium fuels, we haven’t had any issues with injectors or pumps,” adds Vaisvilas, who says his company no longer has to buy off-the-shelf fuel additives to combat performance frustrations.
