A full moon shines on the CHS Rochelle, Ill., ethanol production facility, running full-tilt in late 2018.

Late nights are part of the equation for a cooperative system working around the clock to add value to grain produced by its owners. The CHS Rochelle, Ill., ethanol production facility and its sister facility at Annawan, Ill., include dry-mill biorefineries that combine to turn locally sourced corn into 260 million gallons of fuel-grade ethanol and 700,000 tons of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) each year. With four decades of commitment to renewable fuels and an extensive energy wholesale and retail network, CHS markets more than 1 billion gallons of ethanol every year.
