Bloomin’ Good Business By Lisa Graham-Peterson Global demand for products made from confectionary sunfl owers has remained steady in recent years, despite factors that could have caused a slowdown, like weak European Union economies. According to Jim Krogh, president, CHS Sunfl ower, this can mean only one thing: People like their sunfl ower seeds. It also meant the time was right for CHS to form a sunfl ower processing joint venture in South America. CHS AGRO will be a 50-50 partnership with Adecoagro, a leading agribusiness with more than 283,000 hectares of farmland across Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. “Our customers in the Middle East, Mediterranean and Pacifi c Rim look to us for year-round supplies and CHS AGRO will help us ensure that,” Krogh says. “A southern hemisphere footprint is as important in sunfl owers as it is in soybeans.” FIND MORE: See more photos at chsinc.com/c.
