Export Terminal Expansion Nearly Complete Renovations and upgrades at the Kalama, Wash., export terminal will likely be completed this summer and fully operational by October, in time for fall harvest. The terminal is part of TEMCO, LLC, a 50-50 joint venture between CHS and Cargill. “It’s exciting to see this happen after two to three years of work,” says Rick Dusek, CHS vice president, grain marketing, North America. “The bottom line is that it will improve effi ciency, give us more capacity in the PNW [Pacifi c Northwest] and provide a greater velocity to handle trains and barges.” That effi ciency boost is something Mid Columbia Producers is looking forward to, says Jeff Kaser, general manager at the Moro, Ore., headquarters for its three terminals on the Columbia River and 17 inland elevators. “As Kalama builds more capacity, it makes CHS more relevant for us,” says Kaser, By Greg Lamp who markets 40 to 50 percent of Mid Columbia Producers grain through CHS. “CHS has access to export markets and that’s key.” FIND MORE: See more photos at chsinc.com/c.
